Why the details matter

Performance starts before
the system turns on.

01

Service matched to the system

A single outdoor unit, several indoor heads or a ducted air handler can require different access and work. The scope is agreed before the visit.

02

Maintenance with clear limits

Accessible cleaning and checks are confirmed for the equipment. Deep disassembly, repairs and replacement parts are not automatically included.

03

A useful service record

Ask for the equipment details, condition observations and maintenance recommendations to keep with the manufacturer’s documents.

When to call

Changes worth checking.

Small changes in sound, comfort, energy use or operation can be useful early warnings. If anything appears unsafe, turn the equipment off and call.

Heat Pump Maintenance FAQ

Questions homeowners ask.

These answers provide a useful starting point. Equipment and homes still need individual assessment.

Browse all HVAC questions ↗
01How often should a heat pump be maintained?+

Follow the equipment manufacturer’s maintenance instructions. Timing depends on system type, use, dust exposure and filter condition. Share the model and previous service history so Boost can recommend an appropriate plan; multi-head systems may need a different scope from a single ducted unit.

02Is the $119 diagnostic fee the heat pump maintenance price?+

No. Routine maintenance is quoted for the agreed work and equipment. The $119 diagnostic fee applies to a booked fault investigation, with parts and repairs quoted separately. A system that has stopped heating, repeatedly faults or develops persistent heavy ice should be booked for diagnosis rather than treated as routine maintenance.

03Does maintenance include adding refrigerant?+

No. Refrigerant is not a routine top-up item. Suspected loss of refrigerant requires diagnosis and an appropriate repair plan; testing, repairs and refrigerant work are quoted separately.

04Can I book maintenance for a condo water-source heat pump?+

Identify the equipment before booking. A condo water-source or vertical-stack system needs a different assessment and quote from standard residential air-source maintenance. Send the model label, access details and building service requirements so Boost can confirm suitability and pricing.
